Minitar MNWAPBThis web site is hosted FREE by Servin Mervin
The Minitar MNWAPB has to be one of our alltime favorite access points. For a time every piece of infrastructure in the network was a minitar. Both their firmware and their radio performance are outstanding, we once had a minitar that was up for 200 days. Their radio performance is also unbeatable, with a rated transmit power of 60 mW, but I suspect it was more like 160 mW based upon it's performance and the spec of the PA transistor and it's bias setting. All of the Minitar's that we were using as access points on the network have been transferred for use as acces point clients, as they are so stable, cheap, and well suited to the role. Another testimony to how damn good Minitars are, is the example of the minitar that we swamped. This box sat around in about an inch of rain water for about a week. We cleaned off the corrosion with fresh water and a tooth brush, then dried it in a luke warm oven, and it is still in service on the network today.
Minitars work with an input voltage from four Volts to 32 Volts, and don't die if you reverse polarise them It is sad but true, that this great little box is now discontinued, with only a few stock units remaining in suppliers stock. It is even more sad that there is no replacement available, that operates in client mode for under $100.00. or on the Wireless Technical Forums (See Left) |
